Connection

"The heart has reasons
that reason cannot know."*
Yet the reasons of the heart
Clamor
For imaginative attention.
Through imagination,
that uniquely human capacity,
We connect with
Ourselves
In ways otherwise unknown.
We observe the body politic,
churning and yearning,
To be at peace
Always
Speaking the truth in love.
It is love that intrudes
Upon our consciousness
When consciousness
Fails
To thyself be true.
We feel the consequences
Of needs unfulfilled
Unknown
Untended
And flail to reengage.
Would that the wonder
Of it all
Might become clear.
Connected
Body, mind, heart, and soul
It takes time for that to happen
And patterns of behavior
That go beyond
Imagination
To the heart of the second brain.
That independent network
Of over 100 billion neurons
In the gut
Singing
Their own song.
Whats that tune?
No one else knows.
But in the silence of the deep
Waters
We can hear its quiet call.

All my dreams fulfilled."**
When
We give that brain its due.
