Areas of Research Interest

Dr. Tschannen-Moran's research interests center on the social psychology of schools and how the quality of interpersonal relationships impact the outcomes a school can achieve. Trust is central to these relationships. Dr. Tschannen-Moran has examined the relationships between trust and collaboration, organizational citizenship, leadership, conflict, and school climate. Another line of inquiry focuses on the self-efficacy beliefs of teachers and principals as well as the collective efficacy beliefs within a school. In the course of her work, she has developed a number of measures to capture important aspects of school functioning and of the beliefs and perceptions of organizational participants. Her work has appeared in the Review of Educational Research, Teachers College Record, Educational Administration Quarterly, and the Journal of Educational Administration.
