Career Pathway #194:
I Really Want To...

This has been a happy week. I was able to let go of being behind in my work, not
feeling a lot of energy for the tasks facing me at home, and other loose ends
that are part of my daily awareness. Instead of focusing on those tedious and
tiring details, I gave myself some freedom to just be. And, what I have noticed
is that it was a very happy week. There was a sense of lightness, and I really
felt that all was okay. What a difference "focus" can make.
Besides the lightness, I became much more open and aware of my thoughts
surrounding my professional direction. Several times, I found myself thinking
about "what I really want to do." Sometimes when I find myself thinking about
this, I become agitated, frustrated, and anxious. But this week, it was a
completely different space. I was at peace, and coming from a place of both
curiosity and knowing.
The question of "what do I really want to do?" is one of the most powerful that
we have to consider and decide, whether it is for a year, five years, or over
our professional careers. When we approach it in a calm and free state of mind,
we help to set a much more productive atmosphere for exploring and processing.
And it is from this state of mind that our own highest wisdom and knowing flow.
So, if you are truly interested in an honest and deep answer to the above
question, then serve yourself by creating a peaceful time to process and be.
Turn off the noise, let go of the demands, embrace a larger perspective on life,
and let yourself unwind. You cannot focus on your drumbeat if you are listening
to the beat of your boss, spouse, children, or others. Your power and answers
will only come from you.
