Living a Confident Life

 I came across Henry David Thoreau's words this week, "Go confidently in the
direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined." Although the message
is similar to many messages that I have come upon in the past, this week it
really struck a chord.
I had been contemplating the power I have given to some of my self-talk,
realizing how easily I can discount possibilities before really giving them a
chance. It happens so expediently and quietly that I wasn't even making a
conscious choice, but just quickly dismissing thoughts and opportunities.
On one hand, I desire a large life with professional fulfillment and stimulating
growth opportunities. Yet, I find that as I consider my options I am shutting
down the possibilities much before I have processed the full picture. And the
culprit behind much of the dismissal is my confidence in areas where I am not
experienced.
So, I am proclaiming this "Confidence Awareness Week" and I invite you to join
me in tuning in to our personal talk tracks. Why not check to see if you are
talking yourself out of something because it seems too big, or too different, or
too unknown. You may possibly realize that it is a solid step to your dream, and
that you really want to give it more of a chance.
